Over the last five years, the Patriots have experimented with several uniform combinations, even changing their standard home and away looks in hopes of establishing a post-Tom Brady look that emphasized the new era. It was met with mixed reactions from fans, most of whom simply wanted the classic blue jersey and silver pants combo back in the standard lineup.

That was teased as a return last season under Jerod Mayo, and even this year under Mike Vrabel, yet they have only been worn once since the start of the year.

Now that they're in the midst of three road games, the expectation was that we would see the white jerseys and blue pants uniforms, since those are typically their away looks. But the team just unveiled, via their social media, that won't be the case in their upcoming game against the Saints, after wearing their home looks against the Bills on Sunday Night Football.

Instead, they have revealed a new combination that they have not worn since 2017, which was a season most would claim was plagued by the color rush uniforms that fans detested (for the most part).

Although this is an uncommon look for New England, and maybe that would be intriguing to fans, so far the reaction has been just as mixed as other changes received, with many wishing they just stuck with the standard home and away uniforms like every other team.

The Patriots still can't seem to make up their mind about uniforms

Due to their insistence on establishing an identity after Brady, the Patriots have consistently changed their uniforms over the last five years, much to the dismay of their fan base.

For the most part, their immediate change to the jerseys wasn't well received, as most fans continue to long for the classic look of the dynasty, but the consistent changes are becoming frustrating.

That has prompted a lot of demand for the return of silver pants, even from former Patriots, and it appeared they were making their comeback over the last two years, only for the team to basically introduce a different uniform combo every week so far this season.

While it's not the biggest deal in the grand scheme of things, fans have sought some sort of consistency within the Patriots over the last few years due to the revolving door of head coaches, quarterbacks, and most of the roster.

That wasn't a problem throughout much of the dynasty, so there were no complaints about something as simple as the uniforms. But with all the changes that have occurred, not only since Brady left but since Bill Belichick departed, it would be nice to have at least one thing to count on, and that was the fan-beloved uniforms.

We'll have to see if they become more predictable moving forward, as it seemed like Vrabel was going to reintroduce the classic combos that he wore during his Patriots tenure as a player. However, that hasn't been the case so far, so it looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer to see what his plan is.
