One of the most problematic changes the Patriots have made since Tom Brady left for the Bucs was the decision to change the home uniforms. While Robert Kraft had his heart in the right place to move on from the Brady-era style jersey, making the blue jersey with blue pants the official home uniform has been widely hated by fans for the past five years.

It was once considered the color rush uniform that would be worn by a team on Thursday Night games, but it eventually worked its way into the Patriots' weekly rotation, becoming their permanent combination for home games.

The change prompted a lot of backlash from fans, who have long demanded the return of the classic blue jersey with silver pants. Even former players, like Julian Edelman, have made their desires known to see the old home uniform return, which seemed to be the direction they were moving in during the 2024 season.

Fortunately, based on a social media post by the team regarding Wednesday's schedule release, it looks like they might be returning again this year, too. Maybe even in a full-time capacity.

The Patriots continue to suggest the beloved home uniform combo will be back this season

Because Jerod Mayo was a part of the Patriots during a good chunk of the dynasty era, it was no surprise that he vouched for the return of the fan favorite uniform.

That's why it's also not surprising that the Patriots seemed to hint at its return again this year, which has likely been an effort led by Mike Vrabel. Because he was on the team when that was the standard home uniform, it might be fair to assume he is also advocating for the silver pants to return.

Although this is far from legitimate confirmation, the Patriots' social media team has not been posting anything regarding the uniforms accidentally over the years. In fact, they were a prominent voice in wanting the silver pants to return over the last two years, so including a photo of Christian Gonzalez in that uniform was no mistake.

Hopefully, it won't be long until the team confirms that the home uniform is back for good, and fans won't have to scream from the rooftops about how much they dislike the blue on blue combo ever again.
