New England Patriots Seven Round Mock Draft 4.0
Round Three, Pick 93: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (T/G, McGill)
I felt as if Duvernay-Tardif was about to skyrocket up draft boards when I last talked about him a few versions ago, and he has seemed to do exactly that. However, I last had him as an offensive tackle, and now the talk seems to be that he would project better as an interior offensive line player, and that’s exactly what the Patriots are in need of. Duvernay-Tardif brings incredible toughness, size, grit and a mean streak that just can’t be taught to a player, again, exactly what the Patriots are looking for. Both Dan Connolly and Ryan Wendell were both manhandled last year, constantly being pushed around as they aren’t exactly the biggest players. At a solid 6’5 and 300 pounds, Duvernay-Tardif isn’t going to be pushed around, as if he’d let someone do that to him with his mentality. And if there are any wonders if the guys can make the change from tackle to guard, he is a Ph.D medical student, I’m sure he’ll be able to handle it just fine.
Other Options: RB Tre Mason, WR Bruce Ellington
