With so many potential trades for the Patriots to fill some of their biggest roster holes this offseason, it's key that they find the right players to pursue at the price they're willing to pay.

That doesn't appear to be the case for someone like Maxx Crosby, who would immediately make the biggest impact on the defense, but his price tag almost assuredly rules the Patriots out.

More options might become available, and it looks like the Vikings are the next ones to add another name into the trade market for New England to explore, as reports suggest they are willing to listen to trade offers for Pro Bowler Jonathan Greenard.

He might not be the flashiest name, especially compared to a superstar like Crosby, but Greenard has been stellar for the Vikings over the last two years and has really hit his stride since the 2023 season, making him an impactful addition to a new defense.

Luckily for the Patriots, the Vikings asking price doesn't sound too bad, either.

Jonathan Greenard might be the right fit for what the Patriots want in their next pass rusher

According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Minnesota is hoping to get a Day 2 draft pick in return for Greenard, and the Patriots could more than afford giving up a second or third-rounder.

That would allow them to use their earlier pick(s) on a young pass rusher, a tight end (which is said to be a strong position in this year's class), or an offensive tackle (which is another position of need for the offense).

Greenard is just 28 years old, and although he's dealt with some injuries throughout his career, he's been a consistent force for the Texans and Vikings during his tenures with each team. He earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2024, logging 59 combined tackles, 18 for a loss, 22 quarterback hits, three passes defended, four forced fumbles, and 12 sacks.

He didn't match that production last season, but he only suited up for 12 games, so surely, he would've been far better had he not been sidelined for five games.

No matter what, there's no reason for the Patriots not to inquire about getting Greenard in the door. Although they are reportedly looking at taking an EDGE with their first round pick, adding another veteran to the defense is never a bad idea.

They could also include a player from the defensive line in a trade for Greenard if the Vikings would bite, making his addition even more sensible.
