Tom Brady's back couldn't be more turned on the Patriots if latest rumor is true

Since becoming a full-time color commentator for FOX Sports, former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has seemingly turned his back on his longtime team, and it would be fair to say that New England fans have noticed.

Over the years, there have been a few presumed jabs, and for the most part, they were understandable given how his tenure ended. But those small hits have turned into something much bigger, as he appears to have forfeited any support for the Patriots, especially if the latest rumor is even remotely true.

The most recent stab in the back came ahead of the Super Bowl. It began with Brady supporting Matthew Stafford's bid for the 2025 MVP Award over Drake Maye. That was somewhat forgivable, since it is always a controversial topic.

However, his statement about not having "a dog in the fight" for the Super Bowl was a punch to the gut, because how did that make sense? The Patriots were representing the AFC against their former rival, the Seahawks. Of course, Brady had a reason to cheer for New England.

Eventually, that kind of comment could become forgivable. But hearing the latest comments about the Championship game from Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald and how it could point back to Brady would ensure that the former quarterback has turned his back completely on the Patriots.

Mike Macdonald might have just thrown Tom Brady under the bus in a big way

During a recent appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Macdonald spoke about how he prepared for his first Super Bowl as a head coach and shared that he spoke with a few NFL friends ahead of the big game.

The problem is that he refused to name one confidant who gave him advice for the big game, whom he claimed had a "conflict of interest," and most have concluded that it was Brady.

While it's far from certain who he's referring to, we know he wasn't talking about Bill Belichick, and he mentioned speaking to John Harbaugh, given their coaching connection, so he wouldn't be a conflict of interest.

But you know who would be? Brady.

Not only because he is a FOX commentator and analyst who gets access to teams ahead of games throughout the season, but also because he has partial ownership of the Raiders. That would make any advice immediately problematic, not to mention a complete traitor move from the legendary quarterback.

On top of it all, the Raiders hired Klint Kubiak as their next head coach, who at the time was the Seahawks' offensive coordinator. So ensuring that the Seahawks won the Lombardi Trophy would inevitably make their hire look even better.

We'll likely never know definitively who Macdonald was referring to, but in the meantime, he's surely started a firestorm of assumptions about who it might be. It's disappointing that most believe it was probably Brady, despite his friendship with Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels, but it also wouldn't be surprising, given the negativity he's spewed and the lack of support he's shown in recent years.
