Patriots get utterly disrespected in ESPN's ranking of NFL dynasties

If you needed further proof that ESPN and most of those in the media are working together collectively to diminish and erase what the Patriots accomplished over 20 years with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, look no further than this bogus ranking.

On a recent episode of "Get Up" hosted by Mike Greenberg, he decided to compile a list of the greatest dynasties in NFL history. It's clearly a shot at New England, as he lists them fifth overall, which is already ridiculous.

But Greenberg makes his ranking even worse by who he lists ahead of them and how he included the Patriots overall.

The biggest issue with the ranking is that there is virtually no reasonable explanation for why he decided to limit the Patriots' dynasty to just 2014 - 2018. Considering they were a dominant team for nearly 20 years, why would you only choose the last four years, especially when other teams on the list have longer reigns?

When the dynasty is talked about, it's referring to 2001 - 2018. The only time it's ever split is when discussing how Tom Brady essentially has three Hall of Fame-worthy careers in one, but never when referencing the entire dynasty.

Because Greenberg is a Jets fan, and his recency bias continues to show ESPN's agenda to make Mahomes and Reid the GOATs, it makes complete sense why splitting the two decades of absolute domination over the rest of the league into two small dynasties would be the decision here.

The goal is to ensure the Patriots don't look better than the others, so they have to do all they can to accomplish that, and they certainly did with this list.

Greenberg tried to explain himself while presenting the rankings, sub-consciously knowing he would receive backlash. He claimed that if he had made the Patriots' entire reign as one dynasty, "it's unquestionably No. 1."

So, if that's the case, as it should be, why would he intentionally split it just to make their run look less impressive?

It's just the latest example of sports media trying to downplay all that the Patriots accomplished in hopes of crowning a different team the greatest ever. It's a frustrating part about being a fan of New England because you're always in defense mode. Although history proves how incredible the team was, everyone outside Boston hates the Patriots and continues their work to downplay their dynasty.

In the big scheme of things, is this a big deal? No, it was surely done just to get clicks and stir up some drama. But this isn't the first attempt by someone with a big platform in sports media to try and belittle how iconic and unfathomable the Patriots dynasty was, all because they want to make it seem easy and put someone else at the top.

And that's why Patriots fans will continue to defend the team because this nonsense continues to rear its ugly head.
