Patriots draft picks in 2024, 2025 and beyond: Full list

We are now just about three weeks away from the start of free agency, and in just over two months, it will be the first night of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Because the Patriots are going through a significant transition this offseason, with Bill Belichick out and Jerod Mayo in with an entirely new staff, there are a lot of critical decisions to be made about the team and its future.

Fortunately, this class is said to be deep at wide receiver and offensive line, both of which they will need to prioritize throughout the draft. And they are in a prime position to take their next franchise quarterback if they so choose, whether with their first-round pick or early second-rounder.

Patriots 2024 draft picks

As it stands, the Patriots have one pick per round this year, as they didn't receive any compensatory picks and didn't complete any trades last year to receive picks in return.

This, of course, can change during the course of free agency and any draft day trades, but as of right now, they have seven total selections.

Have the Patriots ever picked 3rd overall before?

Surprisingly, the Patriots have only held and selected the third overall pick twice in team history, and you have to go back quite a ways to see who those players were.

The last time was in 1966, and the only other instance was five years before that, just one year after the team was established.

Recent history of the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft

With the Patriots holding such a high pick in a year, they need to fill some of the most critical positions on the offense (offensive line, quarterback, wide receiver); the history of players taken third is a unique mix of great and mediocre talent.

Some teams have hit it out of the park, while others weren't so lucky. Hopefully, the Patriots will be on the right side of history and make the right decision, especially if they take a quarterback.

Where did the Patriots pick in 2023?

Last year, New England wound up with a total of 12 picks in the draft and put together a decent class.

Christian Gonzalez was an absolute steal, somehow falling to the Patriots after they traded down to the 17th overall pick. He was well on his way to earning the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award before his season ended due to injury, so seeing him back on the field this summer will be exciting.

The other breakout star of the class was Demario Douglas, the team's top receiver in his rookie year. He will most likely become a fixture of the offense moving forward, deservedly so, and can become a real problem for opposing defenses for years to come.

How the rest of the 2023 class looks in their second seasons will definitely be a focal point during training camp and preseason, especially since most of them were underwhelming last year.

Patriots 2025 draft picks

This is a super early look ahead to next year's draft and will surely change over the next year. As it stands, the Patriots are set to have six picks since they traded their sixth-rounder to the Chargers last year for J.C. Jackson.

They should also receive two more picks for trades they made, but those are not yet set in stone.
