Throughout the Patriots' two-decade-long dynasty, the team and its players have made some enemies along the way due to their consistent dominance. It yielded new rivalries that hadn't been seen before, while fueling those from the past that remain relevant even now.
Perhaps the most controversial of all continues to be with the Indianapolis Colts. That rivalry extends beyond Tom Brady leading the Patriots, as ending their Super Bowl hopes on multiple occasions is still something their fans can't seem to get over. But the worst part of all is the lingering anger over the deflategate scandal, despite being disproven by science time and time again.
Colts fans showed that to still be a source of bitterness this past weekend by booing Brady during his appearance at the Indy 500, to which he later perfectly responded on social media.

The Colts-Patriots rivalry will probably continue until the end of time for this reason alone. Not only were they the main team responsible for the deflategate scandal, but the Patriots were severely punished because of it, something fans (and players) are still angry about.
That's why Brady wasn't the only one to get in a jab in response to the Indy 500 crowd booing. Rob Gronkowski couldn't help but join in.
Rob Gronkowski dunks on Colts fans after they booed Tom Brady off the stage
Gronkowski's disdain for the Colts has been well-documented over the years, particularly since his retirement following the 2023 season. So it was unsurprising he didn't miss the opportunity to respond to his quarterback getting booed over the holiday weekend.
This is just the latest example of Patriots legends not letting any shenanigans fly by the Colts or their fans, and Patriots Nation is absolutely here for it.
Although the deflategate scandal occurred ten years ago, it remains a sore spot in New England that infuriates fans to this day, and rightfully so. Given how dominating a win that was in the AFC Championship, it's laughable that the Colts and their fans continue to hold a grudge when they clearly had no chance of winning the game, deflated footballs or not.
Until they finally let that slide, we'll continue to see players like Brady and Gronkowski take the time to bring them back to reality, which is greatly appreciated by New England diehards.
