Now that the Patriots are officially on their summer break ahead of training camp, analysts and fans are taking a deep dive into their roster to see what upgrades are still needed and who might be the best fix.

For the most part, the focus remains on the defensive line, as their current pass rush group doesn't appear up to par, at least on paper.

That has New England connected to a number of free agents, most notably Joey Bosa and Jadeveon Clowney. But then there are some blockbuster predictions suggesting that they might make a bigger splash to address their biggest defensive weakness, which is exactly what Moe Moton of Bleacher Report imagined in a recent article.

He went down the bold route, and bold might be an understatement for some of his trade ideas, which could include a deal involving the Patriots, for whom Moton has trading for a 5-time Pro Bowler before this season's deadline.

Because they were linked to him before he was traded, then not traded, to the Ravens, seeing their connection take off again isn't surprising. But it would be to see their willingness to give up a haul to make a deal happen.

New prediction has the Patriots going all-in to address their biggest defensive weakness

Among the five bold predictions Moton made ahead of the 2026 season, the analyst suggests that the Patriots will finally pull off a big-time move for Crosby, who the Raiders are speculated to still want to move after their failed trade earlier this offseason.

It would be the latest blockbuster move by Eliot Wolf, who already traded a 2028 first-round pick for wide receiver A.J. Brown, and in Moton's prediction, the GM would do the same to acquire Crosby, sending a 2027 first-rounder, a 2028 second-round pick, and even a player to get the deal done.

He notes that the Patriots' current pass rush lacks explosiveness, and there are concerns about Harold Landry coming off offseason knee surgery. On top of that, there are concerning reports about this year's second-round pick, Gabe Jacas, who remains unsigned and is dealing with injuries on top of contract issues.

Crosby would solve all of those problems himself and put their defense over the top in a way we haven't seen in a very long time. They are already considered a top-10 unit as it stands, but Crosby would ensure they moved up the totem pole quickly.

Not only that, but he would instill fear in Patriots' opponents who might overlook their defense after seeing players like K'Lavon Chaisson and Khyiris Tonga leave in free agency, both of whom made significant impacts on rushing the passer and stopping the run.

That's where adding Crosby makes a lot of sense, as he is a one-man wrecking ball, and if they could somehow get him to Foxboro, it would be a dream come true and surely help them remain competitive and well on their way to replicating last season's success.

That goal would be clearer than ever if they pulled off this trade, and although the price would be a little hard to swallow, it would (hopefully) be worth it in the end.
