2. Josh Allen

Josh Allen really announced himself as a superstar last season, when he finished near the top of the NFL in every major statistical category.

For context, Allen ranked fourth in both completion percentage (69.2%) and passer rating (107.2), fifth in passing yards (4,544), touchdowns (37) and yards per attempt (7.9), as well as third in total QBR (81.7), leading Buffalo to a 13-3 finish in the regular season before they ultimately flamed out in the AFC Championship Game vs the Chiefs.

Allen looked like the prohibitive MVP favorite for most of the season, and the Patriots are surely having nightmares of game-planning to slow him down in their two matchups next season, both of which will come within a month of each other in Weeks 13 and 16.

Making Josh Allen uncomfortable should be the Patriots’ main objective when they face Buffalo next season.

To their credit, the Patriots defense actually did a number on Allen in their first meeting last campaign, limiting him to just 11-of-18 for 154 yards and an interception. However, that quickly changed in the team’s Week 16 matchup, when the Pats clearly rolled over and let him rack up 324 yards through the air and four passing touchdowns in a 38-9 rout.

While only a few QBs in the league possess more individual talent and a brighter future than Allen, however, we’re not sure he can be fully trusted on the big stage just yet. That was the only caveat separating him from the top spot on this list, because the No. 1 quarterback set to face the Pats is pretty stinking good in the clutch.
