Patriots: Tom Brady delivers troll piledriver to Falcons on ‘3-28 Day’
By Jerry Trotta
It goes without saying that New England Patriots fans wanted nothing to do with this past weekend coming to an end.
And no, it has nothing — or, at least not everything — to do with having to return to work after two relaxing off days.
Sunday (3/28) was very much a holiday for New England, as it marked the four-year remembrance of the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.
You know, the time in 2017 when the Patriots overcame a 28-3 second half deficit against the Falcons, which culminated with an overtime time touchdown scamper by James White? 28 and three! You know, like the date!
Though a ton of things broke in the Patriots’ favor, Tom Brady was greatly instrumental in their comeback efforts, as he finished 43-of-62 for 466 yards and two touchdowns. The club legend might have moved on from Foxborough, but this triumph clearly ranks among the best of his career.
Why do we say that? Because Brady took to Instagram on Sunday with an absolutely savage picture celebrating the famous date.
In a touching move that will bring a tear to fans eyes, he even tagged some of his former teammates, including Julian Edelman and Joe Thuney.
Former Patriots QB Tom Brady can’t get enough of trolling the Falcons.
Does it get any better than that? There were concerns when Brady first joined social media that he would try too hard to make his followers laugh. Like he’s done on the gridiron so many times in his career, however, the 43-year-old has proved his doubters wrong in emphatic fashion, popping up here and there with the occasional troll job for the ages.
And for those wondering if trolling the Falcons for this epic collapse will ever get old, that isn’t happening anytime soon, especially if Brady is at the forefront of the banter.
From Dont’a Hightower’s strip-sack, to then-Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s maddening play-calling (he’s probably still dialing up run plays), and Julian Edelman’s physics-defying catch in the fourth quarter, this game will forever rank among the greats.
And who could forget Julio Jones’ unreal catch along the sidelines that should’ve iced the game for the Falcons? That snag gave Atlanta, up eight points at the time, a first down just outside of the red zone with less than four minutes remaining.
The rest is literal history.
Sunday might be over, but that shouldn’t mark the end of celebrations in Foxborough. After all, for as much as it might’ve stung fans to watch Brady win a championship with the Buccaneers, this post proves his heart will always belong to the Patriots.
In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if the three-time MVP already has a caption and photo locked in the chamber for when it’s time to troll the Falcons into oblivion next year.
