Patriots QB Cam Newton shared a post-practice photo with WR Julian Edelman.

It almost never comes to this considering how many championships they’ve witnessed through the years, but Patriots fans could really use a win right now.

As of this writing, a total of six players — with potentially more to come — have announced their intentions to sit out the 2020 season due to fears about playing during the coronavirus pandemic.

While these players seemingly didn’t think twice about opting out, it appears that Cam Newton is  raring to get to work in New England. We’ve seen the 31-year-old quarterback post countless photos and videos on social media that have communicated his excitement and motivation to prove his doubters wrong.

That narrative unsurprisingly continued this week as Newton took to Twitter to share a post-workout pic with teammates Julian Edelman and Damiere Byrd.

We told you Byrd’s relationship with Newton made him a dark horse, by the way.

This is exactly the sort of content that fans in Foxborough need to help them reckon with Tuesday’s bombardment of opt-outs.

For those who have yet to figure out how to decipher Newton’s quirky font, we’ve got you covered. To avoid repeating the caption word for word, let’s just say that the former MVP has “big plans” and “a whole lot to prove” this year.

The fact that this post comes just days after Newton and Edelman were seen ripping through their first workout together proves that both players are poised for a big year, which is the first of the post-Tom Brady era.

Thanks to the likely cancellation of the preseason, Newton will need to double his work ethic to get on the same page with his new wideouts and get a complete understanding of New England’s  playbook. By the looks of it, the three-time Pro Bowler is fully aware of that, and Patriots fans should be loving every second of it.

With Newton seemingly fully focused on silencing his critics, it seems that New England’s offense will be in good shape this year. The defense, unfortunately, is an entirely different story following today’s disclosures.
