Jordan Poyer

Jordan Poyer was a seventh-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2013 NFL Draft. He showed flashes in his three full seasons with the team, but they elected to allow him to leave in free agency. The Bills have to be happy about that decision, as Poyer has been a great addition.

Why the Browns let a productive player like Poyer leave in free agency is anyone’s question, but the Bills are happy that they did. Poyer has been excellent for the Bills, getting it done all over the field.

He has been a playmaker in both the passing game and running game. Poyer has gotten into the backfield, not an easy feat for a safety, registering two sacks and two tackles for loss. The two sacks are tied for second on the team.

Poyer is also tied for second on the team with nine passes defended and second with two interceptions. His 47 solo and 65 total tackles also rank him in, you guessed it, second on the Bills.

Poyer will have his hands full trying to slow down Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks in the middle of the field. He has had a great season and will look to continue that against the Patriots. He and Micah Hyde are both playmaking safeties and can both be difference makers in this matchup.
