Los Angeles Chargers Running Back, Melvin Gordon

Melvin Gordon has been putting together another great season for the Chargers. After last season’s breakout, Gordon has expanded his skill set this season as he has become more of a threat as a receiver.

Gordon is averaging only 3.4 yards per carry this season and 56.3 yards per game on the ground but has been getting it done as a receiver. He already has four receiving touchdowns this season and is averaging just over four receptions per game for 32.6 yards per game.

Averaging nearly 90 total yards per game is a good floor for fantasy owners. When you add in the touchdown per game Gordon is averaging, and his fantasy football owners are happy. Gordon struggled last week against the Denver Broncos but should find a much easier time against the Patriots.

The Patriots are giving up 116.4 yards per game and 4.8 yards per carry. They have surrendered only four rushing touchdowns, but Gordon should be in for a big game yardage wise. New England has surrendered at least four receptions to five different running backs as well, so Gordon should be in for a big workload.

Gordon should be started with supreme confidence this week. Even if the Chargers fall behind, he has shown he is a capable performer in passing situations, making him a true three-down back this season.
