WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN (GAME PREDICTION)

Before the season most analysts wrote this game off as a blowout. Now the Patriots are going on the road in a battle for first place in the AFC East. What seemed like an easy win for the Patriots in the preseason now looks like it could be a close and competitive game.

The mix of young and aggressive defenders with solid veterans makes the Jets a challenge for the New England offense that has yet to click on all cylinders. Add in a New England defense that is missing two of their top cornerbacks and this is not going to be an easy match-up.

Getting Rob Gronkowski back will help the offense, and the Jets’ poor run defense should help with balance and slowing the pass rush. The big question remains if the Patriots can get their defense back on track and keep the Jets from controlling the clock with the running game and short passing attack.

I believe New England should still have enough firepower to outscore the New York Jets. However, as I stated on my guest appearance on SportsKrunch with DKrom this week, this is a gritty Jets team and the game will be a lot closer and tougher than many Patriots fans would expect on Sunday.

FINAL SCORE: New England Patriots 24 – New York Jets 21
