Week 8: Home vs. Los Angeles Chargers

After what will likely be a great game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7, the Patriots will have to avoid a dreaded let down game in Week 8. In addition to Week 7 being a big one, the Patriots might also be looking ahead to their bye week. They will have to avoid a letdown, as Phillip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers can be a dangerous team.

Even though Rivers was never able to dethrone the Patriots early on in his career, the Chargers were a threat to New England earlier in the Brady era. Rivers is a gunslinger and the Chargers have been known for being able to beat anyone and also lose to anyone in recent years.

Their inconsistency makes them a true wild card, and a team that the Patriots shouldn’t take lightly. With a quarterback like Rivers and a great young running back in Melvin Gordon, the Chargers could be a sneaky team once again in 2017.

While they do pose a little bit of a threat with a great combo in their backfield, the Patriots likely won’t lose to them at home. Getting a team from the West Coast to the East Coast usually works out well for the team in the East. This game will be no different.

Prediction: Chargers 20 Patriots 30
