1. Eric Weddle wants to play in New England

Weddle told Monday Morning quarterback that he would love to finish his career with the Patriots, much like another former San Diego Chargers star safety, Rodney Harrison.

"It would be funny if I ended up there. We’ve played them so many times. The thing I like about them is they don’t have an ego. It’s insane to think about how good they’ve been. I’ve been to just one AFC championship game. They’ve been there every year. You respect it, you envy it, you admire it."

As tempting as it is to think about one of the NFL’s best safeties spinning up to New England, it’s hard to see it happening. The Patriots already have Devin McCourty, who is also in the conversation of the league’s premier free safety. It’s hard to see the Patriots shelling out big bucks at a position that is already one of their strongest.

It’s more likely that we will see Weddle head up north in California to join the deep-pocketed Oakland Raiders, who are in need of a veteran leadership presence at free safety now that Charles Woodson has hung up the cleats.
