2. Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell entering AFC East

While this isn’t technically Patriots news, it’s always worth noting when big-name players enter the AFC East landscape. On Monday, busy man Rapoport reported that the Miami Dolphins intend to trade for Alonso and Maxwell.

As Rich Hill of PatsPulpit put it so perfectly, this is laughable news for Patriots fans. It looks like for the fourth year in a row, the Dolphins will win the offseason on paper by acquiring a random assortment of well-known players.

Alonso is an outstanding player no doubt, but he’s not going to single-handedly turn around the Dolphins’ franchise. As for Maxwell, he’s probably the most overrated corner in football after flopping in Philly last season. He was good with the Seattle Seahawks with Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, but don’t expect Maxwell to fill the hole left by the departing Brent Grimes.

Brady will torch Maxwell twice a year until either he retires or Maxwell leaves Miami.
