The Patriots are coming off a historical win against the Bills on Sunday Night Football, their first victory in Buffalo in three years. Not only that, but it was also the first time Drake Maye was shown on primetime television since he was drafted last year, and his performance immediately made him a household name that fans outside of New England are not thrilled about knowing.

The last five years of the Patriots' downfall have been a welcome sight for the rest of the league, as they are no longer the dominating force that reigned supreme for two decades. But that hasn't stopped many from suggesting the Patriots are back after their big win over the five-year AFC East Champions.

Given how they played against their toughest opponent yet, it doesn't feel too far-fetched to make such a suggestion. But at the same time, the players shouldn't buy too much into the hype, because it could derail their season. And that's partly what two-time Super Bowl Champion Chris Hogan had to say when discussing the game on his weekly podcast.

Chris Hogan doesn't mince words when sharing advice for the 2025 Patriots after their impressive Week 5 win

Knowing what can happen behind the scenes after a big-time win, Hogan had a few words of advice for the current Patriots team, with the main focus being, "Don't get comfortable."

He emphasized that it was a great win, but the team is still far from being a surefire playoff team, even though they had just beaten a perennial contender on their home field.

Besides never ignoring advice from a player who has won multiple Super Bowls, Hogan's message is exactly what this Patriots team needs to hear.

We've seen what kind of team they can be: it was on full display on Sunday Night Football, and in glimpses throughout the first four games. However, there's a reason they are 3-2, and the losses to the Raiders and Steelers were particularly disappointing.

They have plenty of things they need to clean up before they can feel comfortable with where they are and where they're headed. The win over the Bills was impressive, and they did many great things that they can build upon. But there were also plenty of mistakes that needed to be avoided, and better complementary football that could have been played.

So getting comfortable should be the furthest thing from their mind right now.

Fortunately, they have the right head coach to ensure they don't get complacent, and based on how this team conducts itself already, it seems fair to believe that won't happen. These players are hungry and ready to prove the world wrong, while also understanding how far they still have to go.

Vrabel has made them a strong team mentally, and that's something we haven't been able to say about them over the last few years. They are now on a stretch of very winnable games, so that new mindset is going to be tested, and hopefully, they keep it going and head into November with a 6-2 record.
