In the game of football, it's never good to look in the rearview mirror, whether to continue finding happiness from the recent success or to dwell on past failures. So when it comes to the Patriots, although they accomplished more than anyone expected in 2025 and their season ended in heartbreak, it's fair to say it's time to look forward.

At the same time, however, it's not always a bad idea to reflect on a team's most recent failures in hopes that they won't repeat them any time soon. And in the case of this team, it's too intriguing to hear what current and former players have to say about the Super Bowl loss nearly six months later, just to ignore it.

Because he remains a free agent, Stefon Diggs is being far more candid than he likely would be if he were actively preparing for training camp in a few weeks. He's continuing his YouTube channel, and he recently spoke about the end of the Patriots' season; it's the first time we've really heard his thoughts on his first Championship experience.

Even better is that his thoughts almost surely line up with how Patriots fans are feeling, and that's somewhat reassuring yet also upsetting at the same time.

Stefon Diggs couldn't describe the Patriots' Super Bowl loss any better

In his most recent vlog, Diggs spoke about how ready he was for the Super Bowl, sharing how prepared he felt for the big game. But something felt off once it was underway, and considering how the night went, it's difficult to say that Patriots fans didn't feel the same way.

"I was ready. So I knew I was ready. I was prepared. I just felt like I wanted to do more. We got out there, and it was just weird. I don't know, man. I feel like as ready as I was, I couldn't control everything. I don't know who been through that [expletive] or who been there before, but it's kind of a hard spot to be in, I think. I can't control but so much."

There were plenty of doubters about the Patriots' chances against the Seahawks, and every analyst chose Seattle as the next Super Bowl Champion ahead of the game. So it wasn't shocking to most that they failed to take down the revamped Seattle roster.

The problem is that it felt like the Patriots didn't play at their highest level, and although their defense was impressive, it was somewhat surprising to see just how quickly the offense fell apart.

Expectations were higher among fans, and unfortunately, the team disappointed throughout the night, even though it was commendable that they went from a 4-13 team to a 14-3 team in just one year.

Regardless, it's a night most won't look back on fondly, and Diggs put it plainly when talking about the loss; his comments completely encapsulate how fans still feel five months later.

"But something about that ain't gonna sit right with me."

Something felt off that night, just as the receiver said, and it will forever haunt Patriots fans until their next Super Bowl win. It would be nice if that could be sooner rather than later, but it's too hard to predict the future in the NFL, so it could be longer than expected.

No matter what, it is impressive what they accomplished under Mike Vrabel in Year 1. But this loss is going to sting for a while, especially since it still doesn't feel right, so hopefully they can help us all forget about it little by little with a great 2026 season.
