After beating the Tampa Bay Bucs on the road, 28-23, the New England Patriots are once again in rarified air atop the AFC East.
One reason for their ascension has been the sterling play of wide receiver and leader Stefon Diggs. Recently, Diggs replicated a nice feature of his career — registering touchdowns in three consecutive games for the seventh time.
He hadn't done that since 2022. It's a great time to get back into such habits, as the streaking 8-2 Patriots are threatening to take the top off the NFL in their surprising first season under Mike Vrabel. Of course, Diggs has had some help from his MVP candidate quarterback, Drake Maye.
Maye's emergence in his sophomore season after an underrated rookie year is no shock, but as a quarterback, you're not going far without a No. 1 receiver. Maye is fortunate to have just that in Diggs on the other end of his passes.
Stefon Diggs’ first Patriots touchdown was worth the wait
While coming off an ACL surgery delayed Diggs' re-emergence a tad, he's now getting into a groove at the right time for the surging Patriots. Diggs didn't record a touchdown until Week 8 against Cleveland, but now he's racking them up weekly.
With his touchdown today, Stefon Diggs has now found the end zone in three games in a row.

It's the seventh such streak in Diggs' career, and his first since 2022.
The touchdown against the Bucs was especially important. On a fourth down play, he caught a Maye pass and got both feet down in the end zone in a textbook demonstration of a toe-tap. He showed exactly how a top NFL receiver makes sure that a perfect pass isn't left wanting for six points. It was a masterpiece.
Drake Maye and Stefon Diggs are turning into the NFL’s next unstoppable duo
Mike Vrabel splashed the cash on Diggs in free agency, and he's been worth every penny. In 10 games, he has 50 receptions for 554 yards and three touchdowns. While Maye has spread the ball around, Diggs is averaging five receptions per game.
Now that he's adding touchdown-scoring to his repertoire, NFL defenses have to scheme to keep Diggs under wraps or face the consequences. While Diggs may not hit the vaunted 100-catch or 1,000-yard season in 2025, his contributions have not been confined to just on-field prowess.
Diggs has been a true veteran leader who, from the outset, has helped set the right tone for a young and drastically remodeled Patriots team in 2025. Now that he's scoring touchdowns as well as his weekly haul of passes, the Patriots' record will continue to benefit.
When you get it right, you get it right, and Mike Vrabel aced it when he signed Diggs.
