The Patriots can still pull off a crazy trade to improve their offense
Just because the 2023 NFL Draft is over, does not mean that teams can't still make a huge move to improve their roster. Can the Patriots pull off one of these moves? The team was rumored in potential wide receiver trades all offseason, but nothing transpired.
The team did add JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mike Gesicki to help boost the passing attack this offseason. However, while they both appear to be upgrades, neither are anything more than "good" players, which is the issue.
The Patriots don't have a potentially game-changing player on offense. They did not take a wide receiver until late in the 2023 NFL Draft, even though when they made their first selection in the first round, no wide receivers had been taken.
Can New England still pull off a major trade? Sure, it's still possible. Perhaps Jerry Jeudy is still someone that can be on the move. The Denver Broncos did pick up his fifth-year option, which was the right decision.
Jeudy's 2022 season was the best of his career, and he finished just shy of 1,000 yards. Let me propose a trade that perhaps could happen until it doesn't:
What about this possible trade? I'm not sure this would be enough to land Jerry Jeudy, but it doesn't hurt to re-engage, right? The Patriots flip Kendrick Bourne and their 2024 second round pick to the Denver Broncos and get to enjoy the Jerry Jeudy experience.
All of a sudden a duo of Jerry Jeudy and JuJu Smith-Schuster can do some damage. Add in DeVante Parker and Tyquan Thornton to the mix, and this unit finally has some high-level potential to it. Perhaps they feel like Courtland Sutton would better fit their offense.
Maybe they could offer Kendrick Bourne and a lesser draft pick to the Broncos for Sutton? If the Patriots do want to try to improve their wide receiving core further, the Denver Broncos appear to be the one team t
