On Monday's airing of ESPN's Get Up, Rex Ryan didn't hold back when talking about the New England Patriots.

""This team sucks. I'm telling you, they stink. They absolutely stink. Where's the fight? Where's the energy? Where's the passion? I don't see it.""

Rex Ryan

Rex Ryan never holds back from saying his opinion and he didn't sugarcoat how he felt about the Patriots after their 21-17 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Given Ryan's past with the Patriots, it's not surprising he's taking advantage of taking shots at the 1-5 team. But comments like these don't go unnoticed. This quote should be the latest bulletin board material in the Patriots locker room.

But is Rex Ryan right? The Patriots are on a downward spiral that never seems to end. On the defensive ball rookie Christian Gonzalez was lost for the season and Matthew Judon is nursing a bicep injury which will sideline him until close to the end of the season. Since then, the defense has not looked as dominant as they were at the start of the season.

The offense is a mess. There are problems everywhere. With all of that about the offense and defense, Rex Ryan is right to say what he said, but it is clear that his emotions toward the Patriots came out as spoke about the current state of the Patriots.

Patriots players will notice this. Earlier this offseason, Mike Girardi came out saying that the wide receiving corps "stink, stank, stunk". The next day at practice wide receiver Kendrick Bourne said in his post-practice "stink, stank, stunk", while grinning at the podium talking to reporters.

If the Patriots are looking for any motivation to turn around their season, Rex Ryan has provided it for them. Even in 2023, Rex Ryan is finding a way to potentially help the Patriots while thinking he's stomping down on a defeated team.
