Polarizing former NFL QB already reached out to the New York Jets

Former San Francisco 49ers' QB Colin Kaepernick apparently has already reached out to the New York Jets, surely about wanting to play for the team. Well, here we go. The Jets will now take on trying to see what else is out there at quarterback after Aaron Rodgers' Achilles tore on Monday Night Football.

The four-time MVP is out for the season, and the Jets are surely not going to rely on Zach Wilson, right? Well, that would be good news for the Patriots if they indeed did that, but I don't think they will. I'd expect the Jets to search far and wide to see if there is someone else out there who can hold the fort down.

The Jets do have a very good defense and appear to have enough talent on offense for a QB to come in and simply not be a total disaster. Well, a former NFL QB who has been trying to return to the league for years has apparently reached out to the Jets, and that QB is none other than Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick, 36 in November, was a second-round pick back in the 2011 NFL Draft, and he enjoyed a few solid years with the San Francisco 49ers. The 2016 NFL season was the last time he appeared in the league. In 12 total games, Kaepernick threw for 16 touchdowns on four interceptions, but the Niners went 1-10 in his starts.

He has since turned to activism in his post-playing career, and that has seemed to scare teams away from signing him. His side has said that he's been blackballed from the NFL, but there really is no proof that he has been, at least as far as we know. Anyway, Kaepernick was a below average passer but did rush for 2,300 yards and 13 touchdowns during his career.

It's interesting to see Colin Kaepernick trying to get back into the NFL after not playing for seven seasons. He's also closer to 40 years old than 30, so there is virtually no chance that he'll suit up in the NFL again. But I guess anything is possible, right?
