The Patriots visit to MetLife Stadium to play the Jets for the first time this season might not be the most enjoyable game to watch right now, but there is some sort of laughter New England fans can talk away from an otherwise disappointing game.

Besides the almost unwatchable performance from all phases of the game, a typical pregame warmup from a quarterback caught the attention of many on Thursday night.

It wasn't Aaron Rodgers or Jacoby Brissett, but rookie Drake Maye's decision to throw across the field that brought on a sea of trolling tweets from fans and foes alike. It didn't take long for the jokes to roll out, bringing a little humor to what looks like won't be a night worth remembering.

Most decided to poke fun at Maye's decision to throw across the field, alluding to his inexperience in the NFL as the explanation for him not being named the Patriots starter this year.

One of the best posts came from Steve Palazzolo, the Head of Product for the Football Division for Pro Football Focus.

Jokes aside, some Patriots fans are calling for Maye to replace Brissett in their failing effort to take down their AFC East rival. Because the offense has only managed 40 total yards heading into halftime, the belief is that the rookie could do more positive play than the veteran quarterback.

But the problem is the offensive line, which has already allowed a 53.8% pressure rate. This essentially prevents Brissett from having any time to go through his reads or even look downfield.

Based on what we've seen through just two quarters, their chances of leaving the Meadowlands with a win aren't looking too good, which might make the tweets about Maye's pregame warmup more enjoyable to look at over the next few days.
