Let's break down some pieces of news coming out of the New England Patriots as we progress through the 2023 NFL Season. We are now entering the portion of the season where the draft board and playoff picture begins to take shape. Bill O'Brien doesn't seem to know who his QB is
During a Monday media availability, Patriots' OC Bill O'Brien had this to say about the QB situation:
"“For me, I basically get everybody ready to play,” O’Brien said during a video call. “So, what we try to do is every week … get Mac ready to play, get Bailey ready to play. And that’s what we do. And so, at the end of the day, Bill (Belichick) will make that decision at some point — and we’ll go from there. But I do believe that we have to continue like we do all the time: to earn it on the practice field.”"

To me it's pretty clear that O'Brien truly has no idea who his QB will be going forward, and why should he? Mac Jones has done nothing to keep that job, and there are two other passers on the roster who are good enough to start a game or two. We'll see as we progress later in the week who ends up taking the bulk of the reps.
I don't think Mac Jones needs to be in the lineup going forward. It's time to move on. Just look at the New York Jets benching Zach Wilson earlier this week.
