CB Marco Wilson

Marco Wilson faced the media shortly after being signed to the Patriots practice squad. He was clearly enthusiastic about becoming a part of New England’s program:

And who could blame him? He sees what the Patriots have done with unwanted corners of late. If any team can take his physical gifts, mold, and refine them into the best version of Wilson, it’s the Patriots.

And boy, is Wilson physically gifted. He scored a 9.99 Relative Athletic Score and was the most athletic at his position at the NFL Combine. The tools are there.

What Wilson probably needs is discipline and coaching to reach his full potential. This could work out if his work ethic in the classroom and on the field equals his enthusiasm for being in the New England organization.

But a roster spot is far from a guarantee. When healthy, New England is deep at corner, even with Jack Jones now in Las Vegas. J.C. Jackson’s mental health bears watching as he was unable to finish the season.

It will be a fierce competition among the corners. With maybe the top four spots taken, Wilson may not make the final roster. But his first goal is to make a good enough impression to stay in the program through 2024.
