It is always a unique circumstance when the result of a football game is secondary.

In the 4th quarter of the preseason game between the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers, rookie defensive back for the Patriots, Isaiah Bolden, went down after taking a hit. A stretcher had to come out for him and take him to the hospital immediately.

To the credit of Bill Belichick and the Patriots, as well as Matt Lafleur with the Packers, the two organizations, along with the league, chose to suspend the game. The Patriots themselves released a statement after the game giving an update on the rookie defensive back. The Packers' social media team also showed their support for the Patriots' newcomer.

When speaking to the media, the head coach just said, "We're all saying a prayer for Isaiah. We released a statement. That's all the information we have."

Belichick went on to say how he appreciated how the league handled the end of the game and that what happened in the game didn't matter now.

Other players spoke to the media following Belichick and reiterated much of the same as the future Hall of Fame head coach. 10-time pro bowler Matthew Slater when speaking to the media said, "Our primary concern is Isaiah, his well-being. Our entire team is praying for him and hoping things aren't as serious as they seemed".

Players on the Patriots team spoke to the media about how they appreciated the choice to suspend the game. Unfortunately, the league has had a recent experience with a scary scene like this last year in the week 17 game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. In the game, Bills safety Damar Hamlin went down with cardiac arrest.

Everyone is sending their prayers for Bolden and wishing him a speedy recovery.
