The Patriots are in no position to deal with significant injuries to any player on the team, especially offensively, which is why one of their latest injury scares during the preseason finale looked like the makings of an utter disaster.

When starting offensive lineman Sidy Sow left the game early, it was potentially considered serious, which didn't bode well for the offense's success with the regular season just around the corner. If that were the case, the offensive line would be more of a liability than they had been all summer, even more so with one of their best players sidelined.

It brought a bigger issue to light as fans awaited the latest update regarding Sow's injury. The Patriots have been heavily criticized for what some believe to be a lack of urgency in finding starting-quality players for the offensive line, mainly at left tackle. They've experimented with various lineups, even with Mike Onwenu playing right guard instead of tackle, but the left side remains the biggest problem.

Part of it could be blamed on Cole Strange's absence and throwing rookies into the lineup, hoping they'll perform like veterans. But it is mostly the mistakes of the prior regime not adequately rostering the right players to make the transition a bit easier for Jerod Mayo and Co.

While much of that will continue to be a struggle this season, the latest update about Sow's injury is a sigh of relief for New England as they prepare for their trip to Cincinnati for their 2024 season opener.

The Patriots are more than lucky that Sidy Sow avoided serious injury in the preseason finale

While speaking to reporters on Monday morning, Sow provided an update about his injury, revealing he initially believed he might have torn his Achilles.

Once that was proven not to be the case, he was relieved but wouldn't detail further what injury he is dealing with nor his status for the Week 1 game.

Although it's not ideal for Sow to miss the first game of the season, it's a far better position for the Patriots than losing him for the entire year.

Hopefully, he will be able to return to the field soon and help improve the offensive line's performance because we all know they will need all the help they can get.
