Enough is enough - it's time for the Patriots to blow it up in 2023 after Week 5 shutout

Bad. Ugly. Horrible. The New England Patriots.

Let's not waste anymore time here, right? The New England Patriots are a bad, atrocious football team and are arguably the worst in the league. It's time for this team to blow it up to kickstart the rebuild. The quarterbacks are bad. The offensive line is bad. The team doesn't have an elite playmaker on offense.

The defense is going to regress with the absence of Matthew Judon and Christian Gonzalez. Yes, the sky is falling in New England. The team is now 1-4 after getting shutout at home against the New Orleans Saints. And to be honest, the Saints aren't that good of a football team.

The Patriots have been outscored 72-3 over the last two weeks. I mean, when are we going to stop delaying the inevitable? The right thing to do with this franchise is to simply blow it up down to the studs and start over. The Patriots would be wise to begin selling off players before the trade deadline, which is at the end of the month.

I think the team should consider trading players like Hunter Henry, Mike Gesicki, Kendrick Bourne, DeVante Parker, Trent Brown, David Andrews, Jabrill Peppers, Davon Godchaux, and I'm surely missing some others. After doing that, the Patriots should angle themselves for the 2024 NFL Draft and should look to get a highly-rated QB prospect.

Honestly, at this point, they don't have a bad shot at landing Caleb Williams, who is likely to declare and be the top pick in the draft. In terms of the coaching and front office situation, the Patriots should part ways with Bill Belichick entirely; I get that he's the greatest NFL coach of all time and won six Super Bowls with the team, but we should not hang on too much to the prior success, since it doesn't have much of an impact on the present.

I think the best course of action would be to bring in and young an innovative coach who lays out a clear plan to develop a new QB and to rebuild the roster. It's time for the New England Patriots to to blow this thing up. Enough is enough.
