Despite spending most of the Patriots Week 3 matchup with the Jets on the bench, Drake Maye created a lot of headlines from the few minutes he was seen. Besides his eventual start late in the fourth quarter during what most fans would call garbage time, his pregame warmup garnered a lot of attention, leading many to troll the rookie for his actions.

It's all fun and games since most of it was from Patriots fans, but Maye might have started a controversy with his postgame comments that might not be taken so lightly.

Given that this was the first Patriots game on the schedule with a legendary quarterback on the opposing side, the 22-year-old wanted to make sure he had an opportunity to meet Aaron Rodgers and, at the very least, shake hands.

So when the opportunity presented itself, Maye took it, even if it meant waiting until Rodgers was done doing an interview with Amazon Prime to talk about the Jets' win.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo captured the moment and noted what Maye had to say about waiting to meet with Rodgers. That's where the controversy comes in, and Patriots fans might not be too thrilled to hear it.

The ongoing debate about who the greatest quarterback of all time is is not a conversation that happens amongst Patriots fans. The only acceptable answer is Tom Brady, who ended that conversation by playing until he was 43 years old and winning seven Super Bowls.

But for some reason, that's not enough for those who were never cheering for Brady during his Patriots or Bucs career, hence others trying to claim Rodgers is actually better than him.

Perhaps this was just a slip-up by Maye, or maybe he really does believe that Rodgers is the GOAT, only one of which will be forgivable by Patriots fans.
