The New England Patriots will not be signing DeAndre Hopkins, but could they target another wide receiver free agent to help their offense in 2023? On Sunday, news broke that the All-Pro wide receiver would be signing with the Tennessee Titans, which is a little bit shocking to me.

The Patriots' offer to Hopkins didn't appear to be close to what the Titans offered, so I guess it's no surprise that he decided to sign with them. I'm not sure of Bill Belichick and Bill O'Brien were relying on Hopkins signing with the team, but if they were, they might be inclined to look to the free agent market to see what is left out there.

Or, could they still pull off a trade for a wide receiver?

Best remaining WR free agents the Patriots can target after Hopkins signs with Titans

1. Kenny Golladay

Kenny Golladay is not yet 30 years old and might be a solid fit on the New England Patriots. The one-time Pro Bowler does have two 1,000 yard seasons to his credit with the team that drafted him, the Detroit Lions.

His tenure with the Giants was pathetic, to say the least. In two seasons in New York, he caught 43 passes for 602 yards and one touchdown. Golladay's stock as a player has never been lower, so the Pats might be able to get him for pennies.

The upside, if Golladay can return to his 2018 and 2019 self, is obvious. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give him a try, right?

2. Jarvis Landry

One of the most consistent wide receivers in the NFL over the last 10 years is Jarvis Landry, who is still a free agent and turns 31 in November. The five-time Pro Bowler didn't miss a game in his first six seasons and has three 1,000 yard seasons to his credit, most recently coming in 2019 with the Cleveland Browns.

Landry has 713 receptions over his regular season career and only in 2022 did he begin to struggle with injuries. I do think, if Landry can stay healthy, he'd be a very nice fit in New England. He's a proven, veteran wide receiver who does have that "Patriot Way" mindset about him.

3. TRADE for Broncos' WR Courtland Sutton

The Denver Broncos are likely not trading Jerry Jeudy this year unless their 2023 season goes way south or they get an insane offer. I do think there still is a chance that the team could part with Courtland Sutton if a team would present a strong enough offer.

The Broncos bolstered their WR core this offseason. Tim Patrick returned from his torn ACL and they drafted Marvin Mims Jr and signed Marquez Callaway. They may have room to part with a wide receiver, and the 2019 Pro Bowler Sutton would essentially be a younger, faster, and better version than DeVante Parker, which might be a welcome sight for the offense and Mac Jones.
