Are there any revenge games on the Patriots' schedule in 2023?
The New England Patriots have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this season. Are there any revenge games on the 2023 slate? I think there are a couple of note. Honestly, I don't think any of their division games will be "revenge" games per se since the Pats play them multiple times each season, so those won't be in this article.
However, two of them stick out to me and the Pats would surely like to win them in 2023. Honestly, the team might not be good enough to worry about revenge games in 2023. I do not personally think that New England is going to pose much threat in the AFC this year. I think the changes they made, especially on offense, are for the better, but I don't think they're good enough.
Anyway, let's look at two revenge games in the 2023 season.
Week 6 - @ Las Vegas Raiders
I think this game might end up being one of the most dramatic of the entire season, for the entire league. I mean, to be fair, it was last year. The Pats visited the Raiders in the 2022 season and lost the game on Chandler Jones intercepting a lateral from Jakobi Meyers. Jones then proceeded to stiff arm Mac Jones into the turf before returning the lateral for a touchdown with zeros on the clock.
It was one of the most shocking things I had ever seen in any sport, ever, an it'll surely be on the Patriots' mind in 2023. The Raiders are the Patriots of the AFC West. From Dave Ziegler, to Josh McDaniels, to a chunk of the roster being former Patriots, this game as a ton at stake.
Couple that with Tom Brady being in the ownership booth with the Raiders and Jimmy Garoppolo being the team's quarterback, Bill Belichick is surely going to want to win this contest, and I don't blame him one bit.
Week 16 - @ Denver Broncos
Do you guys remember when a second year QB in Drew Lock waltzed into New England and knocked off the Patriots? That Drew Lock who threw two interceptions during the game? Oh, and to make matters worse, the Broncos didn't even score a touchdown that day, but lost on six field goals from Brandon McManus.
It was an ugly game, to say the least. I think most just assumed that the Pats would take care of business at home, and that was far from the case. Both teams are significantly different now, and the Broncos are home this time around, but that game surely left a bad taste in the mouths of the Patriots.
