Looking at the current Patriots uniforms, there is generally a universal complaint from most fans; there is a desire to see the return of silver pants. The organization seemingly decided to get rid of the traditional attire once Tom Brady left the team and introduced the blue-on-blue ensemble in its place.

What once seemed to be used only as the color rush uniforms for Thursday Night Football became the Patriots' home uniforms, much to the fans' disdain.

Although they've been very vocal about their interest in seeing a uniform change, the higher-ups in Foxboro have not made any moves to make that happen.

Instead, the NFL altered some of its rules regarding alternate helmets, allowing the Patriots to wear their beloved red throwback uniforms. And it looks like that might not be the only old-school jersey the team will be using in the near future.

Alternate Patriots jersey appears to have been leaked

In what appears to be an accidental leak online, NFL Shop had a graphic on their website showing rookie quarterback Joe Milton III wearing a 90s throwback Patriots jersey, presumably donning Curtis Martins' name and number, which was also promoted to be purchased.

This would be the most significant change the team has made with their uniforms in several years, even if it is only allowed to be used a few times a season.

It could just be a way to promote other merchandise on the site, or perhaps it's a sneak peek of what's to come regarding New England's alternate jersey selection for the 2024 season.

The NFL recently announced a change to their uniform policy that will go into effect in 2025, allowing a third helmet design to be used along with alternate uniforms.

"The second and third helmets, also known as "alternate color helmets," can only be worn with one of the club's authorized optional uniforms (classic, alternate and/or color rush). In addition, if either alternate color helmet is paired with a classic uniform, the helmet colors and designs must be historically compatible."

This could be a step in the right direction for Patriots fans who continue to beg for uniform changes. We'll have to wait and see, but it's an exciting development worth watching.
