When looking at the Patriots' current roster you probably won't find too many household names on the list. The days when Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Vince Wilfork, Tedy Bruschi, and Asante Samuel were on the team are long gone.

Those positions are currently populated with Drake Maye, Kendrick Bourne, DeMario 'Pop' Douglas, Christian Barmore, Ja'Whaun Bentley, and Christian Gonzalez, respectively. That is quite the contrast.

Regardless of the less-identifiable names, this roster still has intriguing talent, and positions are up for grabs. The exciting part of not having household names throughout the roster is ample opportunities for dudes to come in, fight for reps, and earn playing time.

As we look at the upcoming 2024-25 season, let's take a quick look at four of the most anticipated position battles that will play out before our eyes this offseason. Let's prepare to battle!

4 must-watch Patriots position battles

What are Jacoby 'Jake Brisket' Brissett's true intentions at quarterback?

The Patriots have a lot of quarterbacks on their roster; some might say they have too many. Naturally, there will be speculation regarding how many quarterbacks the Patriots will carry going into the season.

We have an interesting position battle on our hands nonetheless.

The Patriots brought in veteran Jacoby Brissett in free agency to supposedly be the bridge quarterback. Along with Brissett; the Patriots drafted Drake Maye third overall and Joe Milton III in the sixth round. They already had Bailey Zappe and Nathan Rourke on the roster.

The quarterback battle will truly be the position battle to watch this offseason. Jacoby Brissett has seemingly been brought in to be the starting quarterback for Week 1. However, if Drake Maye can prove that he can pick up the offense quickly and make all the throws, he Maye just earn the starting spot outright.

It will be an interesting fight throughout camp as the Patriots will have to eventually name the week-one starter. The starting quarterback is the most important player on the team making this position battle well deserved to be highlighted.
