Bold prediction: The Patriots do not sign a top wide receiver in free agency

What do Tee Higgins, Mike Evans, Michael Pittman Jr., and Calvin Ridley all have in common? They are all available free agents this upcoming free agency period, and none of them will end up wearing a Patriots uniform this season.

See what I did there? For real, though, the Patriots do not need to bring in top-tier, veteran receiver talent this offseason. The receiver room needs an overhaul, but bring in the top guys via the draft and sign some mid-tier free agents to round out the room. There is no need for big-name receivers to be on this roster at this point in time.

Take Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders, for example. Who is benefitting from him being on the Raiders? It's not Jimmy G, it's not the Raiders, it's not Josh McDaniels (too soon?). Do the Patriots need a stud receiver not being utilized properly, causing headlines from the sideline? No, they don't.
