The New England Patriots have a logjam at wide receiver, but they now might have a perfect chance to fix that. It's no secret that the Patriots have to field a competent WR room in the 2025 NFL season. This feels like one of the most important seasons for this team in quite some time.
After a disastrous 2024 campaign, New England got serious and hired Mike Vrabel as head coach and even brought back Josh McDaniels to coordinate the offense. The Pats might have something special in Drake Maye, as his rookie season was extremely encouraging on many fronts.
But it takes a competent coaching staff and the right players on offense for a young QB to develop. The Patriots' wide receiver room is one of the more uncertain groups on the roster, and while they might not have a clear solution yet, they do have a legitimate opportunity to gain more clarity in the room with a late offseason trade.
Minnesota Vikings could look to add a receiver on the trade market
This bit of news broke on Wednesday morning from Tom Pelissero:
With Jordan Addison suspended and multiple injuries, the #Vikings are seriously exploring veteran receivers in the trade market, per sources.

There are some locks for the Patriots roster at the position with guys like Stefon Diggs, Kyle Williams, Mack Hollins, and DeMario Douglas, but it's a pretty unknown entity after that. Well, with the Vikings now wanting to explore the WR trade market, New England should pick up the phone and see if Vikings' GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah wants someone like Kendrick Bourne?
Minnesota likely views itself as a contender, so you figure a deal will get done with some team. The Pats could not only get a draft pick back in this hypothetical deal, but they'd also offload Bourne's contract and get a ton of clarity in the room as the regular season swiftly approaches.
In their quest to regain control of the AFC East, the Patriots have to keep wheeling and dealing.
