As the 2025 schedule starts to be leaked throughout the day before its eventual full release tonight at 8 pm EST, the Patriots are finding out when they might be facing some of their biggest rivals and storied foes a bit early.
They have already found out they will not be taking part in an international game this season, which is fortunate, considering how poorly those have gone in recent years. The fall in Frankfurt during the 2023 season is rumored to be the point that had Robert Kraft questioning if Bill Belichick should be back the following year, and the loss in London in 2024 was another skidmark of the Jerod Mayo era.
It might be good that Mike Vrabel won't have to deal with the pressure that would inevitably come with a game overseas, even if the belief is that he would have the Patriots performing far better than those teams in the past. However, we now know the team will have at least one primetime game in 2025, and it will be against an old-school rival.
The Patriots are set to face the New York Giants on primetime this fall
Despite not knowing the exact date just yet, MassLive's Mark Daniels confirmed reports that the Patriots will face the New York Giants on Monday Night Football in December.
This means the Patriots will have their first Monday Night Football game since the 2021 season, as their last scheduled game against the Chiefs was historically flexed out.
There's a good chance we will see New England have more national games this season because of Mike Vrabel's presence and the expected rise of Drake Maye after an impressive rookie season. Those factors could make them a must watch team in the way they used to be and prove they're on their way back from the dead after what has appeared to be a successful offseason so far.
