At this stage of the NFL offseason, there aren't many moves left for teams to make, despite the number of free agents that remain unsigned. This year, there is still plenty of talent available for teams to consider, including the Patriots, but there hasn't been much reported on the top names who seem all that interesting to bring in.

The Patriots have been focused solely on a looming trade for wide receiver AJ Brown, which is expected to happen as early as this Tuesday. Yet there are a handful of players fans have suggested they consider signing, particularly on defense.

Joey Bosa has been one of the most common names thrown into the mix, as New England's pass rush wasn't upgraded in the way many fans were hoping for. And although Bosa hasn't performed the way he used to, he's still a proven talent that could improve their chance of getting to the quarterback in 2026.

As great as that would be, it doesn't look to be in the cards, especially after hearing what his brother had to say about him in recent days. If anything, it was surely a message to a team like the Patriots who might have their eye on Bosa.

Patriots just got a clear sign they they don't need to look into signing Joey Bosa

While speaking to reporters last week, 49ers' Nick Bosa shared an update on his brother's offseason, and it was far from what any team would want to hear at this stage.

Nick stated that Joey is "working on his golf game" right now and that he doesn't think "he's too concerned with football right now." While that's certainly fair, given that it is the offseason and summer is right around the corner, it's not exactly a ringing endorsement that would get teams on the phone about signing him to their roster.

If anything, Nick did more harm than good with his candid response about his brother, and it might end up hurting his chances of playing in 2026.

For the Patriots, it's an easy sign to avoid inquiring about Bosa's availability, even if his production isn't the caliber that their defense needs, nor would his expected salary demands be. Regardless, they need more bodies to improve their pass rush, and Bosa would definitely help in that area.

On top of that, it's never great when the entire league overlooks a player like Bosa, as that would presumably mean something, and teams on the fringe should consider that if they're thinking about making a call.

The Patriots are near the top of that list, so it might be best to rely on who they have returning for the upcoming season and trust that guys like Dre'Mont Jones and rookie Gabe Jacas will be much better than most are initially predicting, so they can forget about Bosa easily.
