From everything we've seen and heard over the last few months, the Patriots have sent mixed signals about their plans for wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, who has been the subject of numerous trade rumors all offseason.
Reports suggest they are welcoming inquiries and willing to move him for the right price, but they have yet to receive anything intriguing enough. At the same time, comments from Mike Vrabel and other coaches have somewhat hinted that Boutte will stay with the team for the upcoming season.
Then there are signs that point us back in the other direction, like Boutte's positioning in the locker room now that he's not right next to Drake Maye like he has been over the last two years. Because of that, any team that might need a receiver is immediately on the radar.
The latest of which is the Saints, who have now lost rookie Jordyn Tyson for at least the next two months, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, due to a hamstring injury.

Given the vast inexperience of their receiving corps, with or without Tyson, there's a good chance New Orleans will be looking to upgrade their roster for their young quarterback, and based on the receivers who are or could become available, it isn't outlandish to believe they might be the next team on the phone about Boutte.
Jordyn Tyson's injury might force the Saints to call about Kayshon Boutte
Despite cries from New England fans to keep Boutte for the upcoming season and maybe even extend him before next year, the Patriots still appear interested in moving the receiver before the trade deadline later this year.
For the most part, any team that really needed receiver help has addressed its weakness, so the teams that have been calling aren't desperately trying to get the 24-year-old in the door. But that might be changing now that the Saints are down their first-round draft pick, who was projected to have a major role on the offense this year.
Boutte would immediately add the experience their current receiver room lacks, and he would pair well with Chris Olave, who is known for his speed and reliability as a deep-threat option for any quarterback he has worked with.
Although Boutte is considered a WR3 for the Patriots right now, he could move up the depth chart for many other teams, the Saints included, and because there is so much uncertainty around Tyson's return, they might be willing to send a fourth-round pick to acquire a budding superstar receiver that they can immediately extend, too.
Based on what we know, that sounds like a deal Eliot Wolf would accept in a heartbeat, even if Drake Maye has made it clear that he would prefer Boutte stay on the roster. Regardless, if they are hellbent on trading him before the season begins, then the Saints have what it takes to make it happen.
At the very least, even if a trade isn't agreed to, it won't be at all surprising to hear that the Saints made the call and the Patriots listened. Whether a deal gets done is yet to be seen, especially since the Eagles are coming to town and they are rumored to be interested in adding another receiver, so they'll have competition.
No matter what, the rumors linking Boutte to a trade won't stop anytime soon, whether we like it or not.
