The Patriots head into their Week 7 matchup with the Jaguars with a lot of optimism despite their most recent loss to the Texans, mainly due to the promising performance of rookie quarterback Drake Maye. He shined in his first NFL start last week, throwing three passing touchdowns and extending plays with his legs.

He brought the boost the offense needed after a stagnant first five games of the season, revitalizing a frustrated team.

The hope is that they'll be able to add another win to the year against Jacksonville on Sunday, who have a matching record but have been faring a bit worse than the Patriots have. Based on their lackluster performances as of late, there's a good chance New England will go back to the States with a solid win under their belt that won't be considered a fluke like their season-opening win over the Bengals.

It would also be a great confidence boost for Maye and another positive move in the right direction for the team hoping to build a solid future around the quarterback.

Fortunately, it looks like he might finally get to work with one of the Patriots' best offensive weapons and several players were removed from the injury report ahead of Sunday's game, a progression that couldn't have come at a better time.

Offensive Impact

The biggest loss this week will be left tackle Vederian Lowe's continued absence. He continues to nurse an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined for the past few games, forcing the Patriots to experiment with more offensive line groupings.

It's certainly not an ideal situation with Maye under center now, but based on what we saw in Week 6 vs. the Texans, it looks like they might have put together a solid enough combination to keep him mostly upright, at least far more than Jacoby Brissett had the fortune of.

On the bright side, Rhamondre Stevenson returned to practice on Saturday after missing the entire week leading up to their trip to London. The running back missed last week's game and the running game suffered because of it.

If he can suit up against the Jaguars, Maye would have another explosive weapon to utilize on offense immediately.
