Among the litany of debates Patriots fans have had over the last five years has surrounded the team's uniforms and the desire to bring back one of the more beloved combinations that seemed to go away after Tom Brady left Foxboro in 2020.

It was a decision that has never really been discussed in the years since. The assumption was that the organization hoped to create a new era in Foxboro, with the legendary quarterback continuing his career elsewhere. That meant the previously used color rush blue on blue uniforms became the standard home getup, much to the fans' disappointment.

They have long begged for Robert Kraft to bring back the classic silver pants with blue jersey, which had been standard during the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era instead. It had been teased over the past two seasons, with a game here and there seeing the combos return. But that has become more commonplace in 2024 with Jerod Mayo in charge.

Based on how often the uniform has been used this year, it might be fair to assume that the Patriots will adopt them as permanent fixtures as soon as next year.

Patriots fans might finally be getting their uniform wish in 2025

With the team announcing their plans to wear the navy jersey and silver pants against the Chargers on Saturday, it will be the fifth game this season that the players have dressed in the fan-favorite garb.

They have experimented with other combinations, like the white jersey and silver pants, but none have been used more than the classic Patriots uniform.

Based on how often they were used, it seems to imply that they will be making a comeback next season for good. Given how much the fans and players love it, it makes sense to finally bring them back and stop the teasing.

It wasn't necessary to begin with, even if the idea behind it was understandable. But if it isn't broken, then don't fix it, right? That easily applies to this situation, and it's not at all difficult to make the change.
