It's finally that time of year when the Patriots return to Foxboro and begin putting in the real work for the season ahead.
They're coming off an impressive yet unexpected successful year, as they not only achieved their first winning record in a few seasons and won the AFC East, but they also went on an undefeated postseason run on their way to the Super Bowl.
And although they didn't manage to take down the Seahawks to win their seventh Lombardi Trophy, their rise back to the top was certainly noteworthy.
That puts immense pressure on Mike Vrabel and Co. heading into the 2026 season, despite facing what is already said to be one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. Fortunately, the Patriots have an MVP-caliber quarterback under center in Drake Maye, along with a revamped, upgraded offense and a top-10 defense poised to be even better.
They'll have a lot to live up to as soon as Week 1, but before that, there will be a lot of eyes on training camp, as it is the first glimpse of what this team could look like this fall.
Within the hype are plenty of storylines to pay attention to, from Christian Gonzalez's contract extension and how well A.J. Brown and Drake Maye work together to when starters will finally return to the practice field from injury, and this is the place to catch all of those updates.

Injury updates
LB Harold Landry III
The leading pass rusher was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list ahead of training camp, which means he won't take the practice field right away, but can return in the near future.
TE CJ Dippre & WR Jimmy Kibble
The second-year tight end is dealing with an undisclosed injury that also put him on the PUP list at the start of training camp. The same can be said about the undrafted receiver, who was put on season-ending IR on Friday, July 24.
RB Terrell Jennings & S Brenden Schooler
The running back and safety were placed on the active/non-football injury list with no further details provided.
Latest practice updates
Friday, July 24: Mike Vrabel provided somewhat of an update on rookie Gabe Jacas, who remains unsigned and away from the team since early this spring. Although he didn't give a timetable for when he would return to Foxboro, the head coach did state that he has spoken to Jacas and while contract negotiations are ongoing, he does feel talks have been positive.
What Mike Vrabel is saying
Friday, July 24: While speaking to reporters, Vrabel revealed that wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was going to be with the team for a few days to explore the possibility of becoming a coach in the NFL.
The 5-time Pro Bowler remains a free agent and has stated he wants to play in 2026, but for the time being, he's looking into what he could do after his playing days are over. Given his connection to Vrabel, he's working with the Patriots' staff for the time being.
