New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has been perhaps the most discussed individual of the 2026 offseason, as he has found himself embroiled in controversy after pictures of him in the company of NFL insider Dianna Russini continue to spread across social media.

While the barrage of new information coming to light has made some wonder if Vrabel's job security could be at risk despite the fact that he is just a few months removed from a Super Bowl appearance, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer believes that New England will not make such a seismic decision.

Breer said that it is “definitely not” in the Patriots' plans to consider a coaching change, noting that Robert Kraft has gone to great lengths to protect the franchise's image and Vrabel himself in the wake of this scandal. As of now, it seems like Vrabel will be on the sidelines in Week 1.

Patriots not considering firing Mike Vrabel amid Dianna Russini scandal

After the initial blast of photos that showed Vrabel and Russini, both of whom are married, together at a hotel in Sedona, Arizona, more evidence of them meeting together has been unearthed. TMZ has published pictures of the pair at a casino in Biloxi, Mississippi after Vrabel was fired as coach of the Tennessee Titans.

The most recent information to come out related to those two has been both photographic and video evidence that Vrabel and Russini were renting a boat together in 2021 in Putnam, Tennessee. Russini, who was pregnant at the time, was reporting on the Vrabel-coached Titans.

Vrabel has gone to therapy after these transgressions came to light, and he was not with the Patriots on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Patriots players, including franchise quarterback Drake Maye, have spoken out in support of Vrabel, with Maye calling him "a great human being."

The Patriots are seemingly intending to stick by Vrabel despite the deluge of video evidence strengthening his connection to Russini over the last few seasons. Unless more information breaks before the season, Patriots fans can be safe in assuming that Vrabel will be the team's head coach in 2026.
