Bill Belichick seemed to have a good amount of options during the 2024 offseason after he was fired from the Patriots, but he hoped to continue his coaching career elsewhere. For a while, it looked like he was well on his way to becoming the next head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, but that abruptly ended with not much explanation.

Once it was clear he wasn't going to be on an NFL sideline this year, at least as a head coach, he chose a new venture into the media and joined several different shows across various networks, much to the delight of NFL fans. It seemed like he had found his new calling, or at least what would hold him off until next spring.

It has been made very clear that Belichick wants to continue coaching and plans to pursue that in 2025. Several teams have already been connected to him via rumor, and it appears more teams are being thrown into the Belichick sweepstakes as we head into Week 14.

That's what NFL insider Jordan Schultz revealed during a recent appearance on FS1's The Herd this week, reiterating a few of the favorites that Belichick will seriously consider as his next destination. But he also added an unexpected team to potentially make a run for the 8-time Super Bowl Champion, which would be a great fit yet also ironic.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be an underrated destination for Bill Belichick in 2025

Besides the continuation of rumors connecting Belichick to the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars, the tenured head coach is now a potential candidate for the Bucs if they choose to move on from Todd Bowles.

Schultz threw them in as a possibility next year, stating that if Tampa Bay doesn't make it to the playoffs this season, they might be looking for a new head coach, and who better than the guy who really liked quarterback Baker Mayfield coming out of college.

Given how good the Bucs have been over the last two seasons with Mayfield under center and their loaded offense, it feels like a top destination for a coach hoping to break the all-time wins record over the next season or two.

It is one of the ideal places to land because of their roster and how open the NFC South is now and in the foreseeable future, creating a big possibility for Belichick to do a lot of winning long term.

While it makes sense that the Bucs could be a team worthy of consideration, it would be incredibly ironic if both Belichick and Brady left the Patriots and signed with the same team just a few years apart. It would be even wilder if Belichick could achieve the same or similar success as his longtime quarterback during his three years in Florida.

What ultimately happens will surely be fascinating to see, especially since many believe Belichick could still coach a team to winning a Super Bowl at this stage in the game. That would be a double-whammy for owner Robert Kraft, who had to watch Brady win a Super Bowl the season after he left New England. It would be painful to see that happen with his former head coach, too, even more so if the Patriots are still not in a place of contention by then.
