A.J. Brown this, A.J. Brown that. The chatter surrounding the disgruntled Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver's presumed trade to the New England Patriots is deafening and impossible to drown out.

Brown officially winding up with the Patriots has long felt like a formality. Members of the team have even weighed in on the matter, namely standout defensive tackle Milton Williams, who notably came over from Philadelphia last March.

Williams spent his first four campaigns in the NFL with the Eagles. He overlapped with Brown for three of them and seems quite excited about the idea of a reunion, to say the least.

During his recent media availability, Williams discussed having to "resist" the temptation of lobbying the Patriots' front office to acquire Brown.

"You [hear] the noise and you see it," Williams stated. "Shoot, [Brown's a] hell of a player. He can definitely help our team. But ... [the Patriots] don't pay me to do that."

It's easy to see why Williams seems so eager to rejoin forces with Brown. After all, they made two Super Bowl trips together, one of which ended in a victory. With that in mind, the former appears to believe their track record of success in Philly could carry over to New England.

The Eagles were a juggernaut with Brown operating as a focal point of their offense and Williams setting the tone up front on defense. They were second in the league in wins (39) from 2022 through 2024; only the Kansas City Chiefs had a better record.

Of course, though, Brown remains an Eagle until otherwise. We know they are waiting until June 1 to move on from him to spread his bloated cap hit across the next two years. Yet, despite the universal sense of inevitability that the three-time All-Pro will land in Foxborough, some of the latest intel suggests no deal is imminent.

New England is reportedly unwilling to include a first-round pick in a swap for Brown. Whether the club changes its stance or the Eagles lower their asking price is worth monitoring. Meanwhile, the situation may drag on and continue to linger over both franchises.

Turning 29 in June, Brown's been one of the most productive pass-catchers in football since entering the pros in 2019. He's fourth in receiving yards (8,029) and touchdowns (56) over the past seven seasons.
