On Thursday night before Super Bowl LX, NFL Honors will be held to recognize the best of the best from the 2025 season. A few Patriots coaches and players were nominated, including Josh McDaniels, who won Assistant Coach of the Year, and Mike Vrabel, who was nominated for Coach of the Year.

Joining his offensive coordinator in the winner section, Vrabel was officially announced as the winner of his second Coach of the Year Award, becoming just the 7th head coach in NFL history to win the award with different franchises.

Although he became the frontrunner later in the season, Vrabel had some stiff competition in the category, most notably Liam Coen, who helped lead the Jaguars to the playoffs, and Mike Macdonald, who will be coaching the Seahawks against Vrabel in this weekend's Super Bowl.

They were certainly impressive with what they accomplished, but none more than what we saw from Vrabel in his first season with the Patriots.

Some might feel that he took over one of the better teams in last year's cycle, but that's not entirely true. Vrabel walked into a messy situation after a failed season under Jerod Mayo, and it wasn't just their on-field performance that needed fixing.

The locker room was also in shambles, and they needed a fearless leader who could revamp the team from top to bottom, inside and out, and from what we've seen this season, that's exactly what Vrabel was able to do.

Not only did he take them from a 4-13 team to 14-3, but he also brought the offense from being ranked 26th to 5th and the defense from 20th to 2nd. Better yet, he also made this the closest Patriots team most reporters can remember, and that has paid off on the field.

That's something we've heard countless times throughout the season, especially leading up to the Super Bowl, and the players made sure they thanked their head coach after hearing he had won the award.
