Among a number of things that went wrong with the New England Patriots under Jerod Mayo during the 2024 season was the apparent urge to replace nearly every reminder of the Bill Belichick era by the new coaching staff, which came back to bite them by season's end. While establishing a new culture is important, the Mayo regime tried too hard and lost the roster along the way.
That included the almost weekly reveals of a new catchphrase, whether it was plastered on the stadium walls or donned on a new t-shirt the players wore at practice: it nearly became a laughing matter amongst fans, as most of the new phrases couldn't top the ones of old.
Now that Mike Vrabel is in the building and has clearly created a culture the team wants to buy into, it's unsurprising that new words to live by are becoming noticeable. To this point, most phrases have been shared by the players.
But Vrabel seemed to share his own last week, speaking to reporters before Monday's matchup against the Giants, and this one might be the official replacement for Bill Belichick's famous "Do your job" we came to know during the dynasty years.
Mike Vrabel might have debuted a new catchphrase that fits the 2025 Patriots
Although the new-look Patriots haven't made any official plans to establish a new phrase to live by, Vrabel showed up to his media appearance last week wearing a vest with "no naps" embroidered on the front.
It was apparently gifted to him by equipment manager Stick Rogers, and it might be what we hear a lot of moving forward as the Patriots prepare for a playoff run.

It's very similar to the "no days off" vibe that Belichick loved to emphasize throughout his career, and it's clear this year's roster is dedicated to keeping that going until the end of the season.
By not "napping," they won't slack off until the year is completely over, and they won't let a bad play or a mishap distract them from their ultimate goal.
We've heard all season how much work the players are putting in to improve their performance, with dozens coming in on their days off to workout and study film, and there's no reason to believe that will change any time soon.
If they want to live by this new catchphrase, then they're doing a great job of accomplishing that so far, but they still have a long way to go. They will have to take down the Giants in Week 13, and once they return from their bye week, they face more challenges, including a rematch against the Bills at home and the Ravens on the road.
The Patriots could shock the world this season by winning the division they long called their own, as soon as taking down the Bills once again in Week 15. That would also move them one step closer to winning the No. 1 seed in the AFC, a feat not a single person predicted before the season began.
It will require "no naps" between now and then, and it will hopefully go that way the rest of the year.
