Super Bowl 60 didn’t go the way the New England Patriots were hoping, as the team lost to the Seattle Seahawks 29-13. It was a disappointing end to an amazing season for the Patriots, and they now have a ton of motivation to carry them into the offseason. Head coach Mike Vrabel is already stoking the fire that his team gained through defeat.

Vrabel addressed the media following the Super Bowl loss and revealed that he told the locker room how much he appreciates coaching them, even in the midst of the disappointing loss. The head coach’s biggest message to his team, though, was that he’s just getting started. Vrabel explained to the media that he has only been the head coach for less than a year. With that in mind, he sent a message to the team to remember the feeling of losing on Sunday, but also for them to remember that this is just year one of the Vrabel era.

Mike Vrabel makes it clear that Patriots are just getting started after Super Bowl loss

Vrabel isn’t naive; he knows that time alone won’t get New England back to a Super Bowl. The Patriots will have to work even harder to put themselves back in this position and to be successful, and the head coach explained that. When asked how valuable this run to the Super Bowl could be for the team, Vrabel answered, “It’s only valuable if we understand what it’s going to take to improve. If we don’t, then it won’t be valuable.”

In other words, New England’s loss to Seattle will be just another Super Bowl loss, unless the Patriots find a way to turn things up a few notches. Each NFL season is its own entity, and the Patriots will have a different team next season. That means it’s not as simple as running things back and getting a second chance in the Super Bowl.

New England will start back at square one with every other team in the NFL, and the franchise will begin the climb all over again. Fortunately, the Patriots have the right leader in Mike Vrabel guiding the climb, and the team should have some lessons from this season to help them reach higher heights.
