Most of the conversation surrounding the Patriots this season, besides how they've put together a much better year than anyone predicted, has been about Drake Maye's second-year rise and the impeccable addition of Mike Vrabel as the new head coach. The combination, along with the rest of the coaching staff and upgraded roster, has led them to a 13-3 record and on the cusp of winning the AFC East and No. 1 seed.
It is a nightmare scenario for the AFC and the rest of the NFL, as Maye has been playing like a legitimate MVP candidate and has put himself on the map much sooner than anyone outside of New England hoped for.
After his nearly perfect day against the Jets, it was clear his teammates and coaches were even more thankful to have him under center, and Vrabel said as much when speaking to reporters.
The head coach certainly echoed much of what Patriots fans have been saying all season.
Mike Vrabel just gave the ultimate compliment to Drake Maye after another standout performance
When asked about Maye contending for the MVP award, only behind 17-year veteran Matthew Stafford, Vrabel summed up his feelings on the Patriots quarterback easily: he doesn't want anyone else leading the team's offense.
Mike Vrabel on whether Drake Maye is the NFL MVP:

To some, it might be too early to make such a statement, as many on social media have said to Patriots fans who have said similar things. But the way Maye is playing is undeniable, along with his poise and leadership at just 23 years old.
The right moves were made this offseason to elevate his development and production in Year 2, and we're already seeing the fruits of that labor.
It's why Maye is a serious contender for MVP already, something some of his closest competition were not doing in their second season, and why players wanted to come to New England in free agency or even the draft, which will become a crucial part of 2026, as they continue to make the team better.
